What it’s like to be the only person in your family who can hear

As most people know, living with or someone with a hearing loss can be challenging.  But can you imagine being the only one in your family who can hear?

CODA which is short for “child of deaf adult“,  are children raised by one or more deaf parents.  Often children learn to speak both oral and a form of sign language.   During day to day life, they act as go-between for their parents and the hearing world.

Statistics show that ninety percent of children born to deaf adults can hear normally.   ABC News shares the story of Jodee,  who’s whole family except herself are deaf.
